Mitchell Leong

Mitchell has a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Calgary with a major in Geoscience and a minor in Bioscience, grounding his creative work within a solid scientific foundation. He is a dynamic photographer with a unique blend of expertise in media, storytelling, and project management in a range of environments. Mitchell’s passion for visual storytelling is rooted in a lifelong commitment to educating, evoking empathy, and supporting sustainability. Creating deeper emotional connections through his photography was one of his key motivators for co-founding AMPP with the team. It is important to Mitchell that he is not just translating scientific concepts, but transforming human experiences and shared concerns into meaningful visual narratives. Having a deep understanding of an issue to create meaningful solutions is how he believes change can be made. Spending time on the ground with people that have first-hand experiences is critical. For Mitchell, the story does not come from us, it goes through us. We are the speaker through which their voices are amplified. Our job is to capture and spread their story.

His work has been featured in National Geographic, magazines, articles, and tourism campaigns that showcase unique destinations, cultures, and environmental issues. Driven by a desire to put empathy at the heart of storytelling, he excels at turning data and scientific insight into stories and images that resonate on a personal level. His diverse experiences have deepened both his storytelling expertise and his appreciation for the natural world — a principle that guides every project he is a part of.
